Second Dose of Updated COVID-19 Vaccine Recommended for Adults 65+

Federal and state agencies now recommend a second dose of the updated 2023-24 formula COVID-19 vaccines for adults ages 65 and over. The second dose must be administered at least four months after the last COVID-19 dose, or at least three months after a COVID-19 infection.

Other age groups are not eligible for second doses of the updated vaccine, except those individuals with weakened immune systems who were already approved for additional doses at the recommendation of a healthcare provider.

The updated vaccine is available through pharmacies, healthcare providers and at other locations listed at www.vaccines.gov.

Uninsured and underinsured adults can receive the COVID-19 vaccine at no cost through SCHD's West Central clinic. Call (316) 660-7300 to schedule an appointment or visit during walk-in hours, Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
