What is Home Visiting?

Home Visiting is an educational home visitation program that provides prenatal and post-partum support to primary caregivers and their families in Sedgwick County at no out-of-pocket expense for participants.

Registered nurses and other trained family-support professionals provide education and family support through home and office visits. Residents who participate in Healthy Babies can earn incentives by reaching various milestones throughout their time in the program.

How it Works

Every Sedgwick County primary parent enrolled in the program receives at least one prenatal and post-partum visit. The number of home visits will be determined and is based on several factors and the supported needed.  On average, visits take about an hour. A trained family-support professional can provide information about:

  • Basic baby care
  • Family planning
  • Breastfeeding
  • Infant growth/development
  • Labor and delivery
  • Preterm labor signs/symptoms
  • Safe sleep
  • STIs
  • And more!
