Domestic Violence Awareness
Domestic violence remains a serious issue that affects communities across the United States, including right here in Sedgwick County. It can take many forms and may involve criminal acts such as battery, assault, criminal threats, rape, and sexual battery.
Domestic violence does not discriminate. Victims can be men, women, children, and even pets. Individuals from all racial and ethnic backgrounds, income levels, professions, and both heterosexual and same-sex relationships may be impacted. Unfortunately, many victims are unable to leave their households before serious harm occurs.
While “domestic violence” is often associated with physical abuse, it can also include other forms of harm, such as:
-
Emotional Abuse
-
Psychological Abuse
-
Sexual Abuse
