Commission Affirms Local Health Order, Enacts Curfew on Certain Businesses

(Sedgwick County, KS) – The Board of County Commissioners held a special meeting today to discuss the public health order of Dr. Garold Minns, Sedgwick County’s Local Health Officer.

The outcome of the meeting resulted in the Board of County Commissioners affirming Dr. Minns’ order with certain amendments:

  • Businesses licensed to sell alcohol for on-premises consumption will have a curfew of midnight beginning on Saturday, July 25; and
  • Children age 11 and younger are not required to wear a mask; children age two and younger should not wear a mask of face because of the risk of suffocation;
  • Swimming pools are exempt from the order;
  • The order is currently in effect and will remain so through Friday, Aug. 21, at 11:59 p.m.
