Commission Votes to Censure Commissioner O’Donnell and Calls for Resignation

(Sedgwick County, KS) –During a Special Board of County Commissioners meeting, the Board voted (4-0) to censure Commissioner Michael O’Donnell, II and request his resignation from his elected position representing Commission District II.

Commissioners adopted a code of ethics in 2018 which includes that a county commissioner should be vigorously dedicated to the democratic ideals of honesty, openness, and accountability in all public matters involving county government and should model decorum, respect for others and civility in all public relationships.

There is an active and ongoing lawsuit involving Commissioner O’Donnell and an open investigation into potential ouster proceedings by the District Attorney. The General Election next week will determine the next commissioners for Commission District II and III.
