County Appraiser Retires after Decades of Service

Sedgwick County Appraiser Mike Borchard announced his September 1 retirement from Sedgwick County in August after nearly three decades of service. Borchard was first appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to serve as County Appraiser in 2004. Mark Clark, Chief Deputy Appraiser, has been identified to serve as Interim Appraiser. 

The County Appraiser is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners therefore, the Board will appoint an Interim Appraiser subject to approval by the State of Kansas (Division of Property Valuation).  The Interim Appraiser may serve until the position is filled permanently. The new Appraiser will be appointed by the Board subject to approval by the State (Division of Property Valuation) as well.
