County Manager Retirement Celebration

A retirement celebration for Sedgwick County Manager Bill Buchanan will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, at Intrust Bank Arena.

The Board of Sedgwick County Commissioners will attend the event.

Buchanan is originally from Altoona, Pennsylvania, and is a graduate of Waynesburg College and Kent State University. He has more than 47 years of public service experience, including service as city manager in Liberty, New York; Franklin, Pennsylvania; and Jackson, Michigan.

Buchanan came to Sedgwick County on March 18, 1991. He will retire with more than 24 years of service to Sedgwick County on June 16, 2015. He is also past president of the International City/County Management Association, has served on many boards for community non-profit agencies, and has been an adjunct professor at Wichita State University.

Buchanan is married to Lynn, and has three children and four granddaughters.
