Fire at County Courthouse, No Injuries

(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – Around 9:45 a.m. today, a fire was reported on the fourth floor of the Sedgwick County Courthouse, 525 N. Main. There were no injuries. Wichita Fire Department (WFD) arrived on scene, and located and extinguished the fire within 30 minutes. The building was minimally occupied at the time of the fire.

The fourth floor houses the 18^th Judicial District Family Law Self-Help Center as well as Family Law Courts. Sedgwick County is working toward clean-up and will be fully operational for business on Tuesday, January 21. The Courthouse is closed on Monday for Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

WFD and Sedgwick County Fire District 1 are investigating the cause of the fire and the extent of damages.
