Road Improvements Near Campus High School Complete

(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – Officials from Sedgwick County, Haysville School District, and the City of Haysville celebrated the conclusion of a road improvement project at 55th St. South and Meridian in Haysville, near Campus High School.

“The most important part of the project involves the safety of our children, parents, and other pedestrians who use this intersection,” said County Commissioner Michael O’Donnell. “Thank you to the people of Haysville and south Wichita for their patience as crews worked to complete it.”

The concept for the joint project began in 2017 and in 2018 the Haysville School District and Sedgwick County decided to split the cost of the project equally for the turn lane and sidewalk improvements. The County also paid for a traffic signal at the intersection.

The project was budgeted at $1.35 million; however the low project bid was $435,000. Final costs have been totaled but the Haysville School District’s portion is expected to be roughly $200,000 and the remainder will be paid for by the County.
