*Sedgwick County’s data reflects people who test positive with nasopharyngeal (NP) swab molecular testing (confirmed COVID-19 cases). The KDHE dashboard differs because it also includes people who are IgM antibody test or antigen test positive if they are linked to a confirmed case or if they have COVID-19 symptoms.

Sedgwick County Health Department Update

  • SCHD has successfully administered all available first doses of vaccine for Phase 1 health care associated workers (HCAW). As more vaccine is received and we are given directive from the state health department, we will begin vaccinating people in Phase 2.
    • Watch the media and the Sedgwick County website for more information about who can be vaccinated next.
  • We are notified 12-24 hours before we receive vaccine. Because of the unpredictable nature of vaccine distribution to Sedgwick County Health Department, we are not scheduling ahead of vaccine receipt. Our intent is not to schedule more appointments than the vaccine we have on hand. Additional appointments will become available as we receive more vaccine.
  • No-cost, walk-in testing is regularly available for residents, regardless of symptoms, through the Health Department Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 4 p.m. No appointment is required.
    • Operations will take place at the Sedgwick County Extension Office, 7001 W. 21st St., Wichita, 67205 for saliva, NP, and oral PCR samples.
    • Results are generally available within 18 to 36 hours.  The Health Department will make three attempts to reach residents with their results.
      • If you receive a voicemail or missed call from the Health Department please call back in order to receive your results.
      • For the quickest response please call (316) 660-1022 and listen for the prompt to leave a message for the results department.
