*Sedgwick County’s data reflects people who test positive with nasopharyngeal (NP) swab, oropharyngeal (throat) swab, or saliva molecular testing (confirmed COVID-19 cases). The KDHE dashboard differs because it also includes people who are IgM antibody test or antigen test positive if they are linked to a confirmed case or if they have COVID-19 symptoms.
Vaccination Doses Given by Sedgwick County
- Yesterday, Sedgwick County opened up COVID-19 vaccines for those aged 12 to 15
- Parent/guardian permission is required to receive the vaccine for those under age of 18
- If a child has no proof of age through ID or birth certificate, at the clinic, a parent/guardian must sign attesting to the child’s age
- Vaccination appointments are open for all people aged 12 and older. Schedule an appointment online at www.sedgwickcounty.org/covid-19/vaccine/schedule/ or walk-in during clinic hours.
- The one-dose Johnson and Johnson (J&J) vaccine is available by walk-in or appointment daily as supply allows.
- All, especially minors, are encouraged to eat a meal or snack prior to arriving to prevent any nausea that may occur following vaccination.
- If a person with a severe medical risk has received medical advice to not go to a large vaccine clinic, such as the community vaccination site at 223 S. Main, please call SCHD at (316) 660-1029 or schedule an appointment online for the drive-thru clinic.
- The following locations are open to residents for walk-in or appointments:
- 223 S. Main | Former Wichita Central Library | Clinic for eligible people aged 12 and older
- 777 E. Waterman | Wichita Transit Operations | Drive-thru for eligible people aged 12 and older and who received medical advice to not to go to a large vaccine clinic or who have mobility difficulties
- Please plan to allow at least 45 minutes for the vaccine appointment.
- To find a vaccine clinic near you, visit https://www.vaccines.gov/search/ and enter your zip code. You can also check with your doctor’s office or community clinic to find out if the vaccine is offered there.

Sedgwick County Health Department Update
- No-cost, walk-in testing is regularly available for residents, regardless of symptoms, through the Health Department Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointment is required.
- Operations will take place at the Sedgwick County Park, Sunflower Shelter, 6501 W. 21st St, Wichita, KS, 67205 for saliva, NP, and oral PCR samples
- Please enter off of 13th Street and follow the signs in the park
- Results are generally available within 12-24 hours. The Health Department will make three attempts to reach residents with their results.
- If you receive a voicemail or missed call from the Health Department, please call back in order to receive your results.
- For the quickest response, please call (316) 660-1022 and listen for the prompt to leave a message for the results department.
Sedgwick County Updates
- Commissioners adopted a resolution on March 24, 2021 that is currently in place for Sedgwick County and strongly recommends for individuals and businesses a continuation of healthy behaviors – being vaccinated when eligible, wearing a mask, and social distancing – through June 21, 2021.
