*Sedgwick County’s data reflects people who test positive with nasopharyngeal (NP) swab, oropharyngeal (throat) swab, or saliva molecular testing (confirmed COVID-19 cases). The KDHE dashboard differs because it also includes people who are IgM antibody test or antigen test positive if they are linked to a confirmed case or if they have COVID-19 symptoms.

Vaccination Doses Given by Sedgwick County

  • Vaccination appointments are open for all people aged 12 and older. Schedule an appointment online at www.sedgwickcounty.org/covid-19/vaccine/schedule/ or walk-in during clinic hours.
    • The one-dose Johnson and Johnson (J&J) vaccine is available by walk-in or appointment daily as supply allows.
    • Everyone, especially minors, are encouraged to eat a meal or snack prior to arriving to prevent any nausea that may occur following your vaccination.
    • If your physician has advised you not to go to a large vaccine clinic, such as the community vaccination site at 223 S. Main, please call SCHD at (316) 660-1029 or schedule an appointment online for the drive-thru clinic.
  • The following locations are open to residents for walk-in or appointments:
  • 223 S. Main | Former Wichita Central Library | Clinic for eligible people aged 12 and older
  • 777 E. Waterman | Wichita Transit Operations | Drive-thru for eligible people aged 12 and older and who received medical advice to not to go to a large vaccine clinic or who have mobility difficulties
  • Please plan to allow at least 45 minutes for your vaccine appointment.
  • To find a vaccine clinic near you, visit https://www.vaccines.gov/search/ and enter your zip code. You can also check with your doctor’s office or community health center to find out if the vaccine is offered there.
  • In observance of Memorial Day, both vaccine clinic locations at 223 S. Main and 777 E. Waterman will be closed on Monday, May 31.

Sedgwick County Health Department Update

  • No-cost, walk-in testing is regularly available for residents, regardless of symptoms, through the Health Department Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointment is required.
    • Operations will take place at the Sedgwick County Park, Sunflower Shelter, 6501 W. 21st St, Wichita, KS, 67205 for saliva, NP, and oral PCR samples
    • Please enter off of 13th Street and follow the signs in the park
    • Results are generally available within 12-24 hours. The Health Department will make three attempts to reach residents with their results.
      • If you receive a voicemail or missed call from the Health Department, please call back in order to receive your results.
      • For the quickest response, please call (316) 660-1022 and listen for the prompt to leave a message for the results department. 
  • In observance of Memorial Day, the COVID-19 testing site at 6501 W. 21st St. will be closed on Monday, May 31.

Sedgwick County Updates

On May 19, the Sedgwick County Board of County Commissioners voted to amend the current resolution and strongly recommended individuals get the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as 

  • they are eligible, consistent with CDC recommendations. The adopted resolution also encourages businesses and organizations to determine, in their best judgment, whether to require individuals to wear masks or other face coverings and/or to social distance from one another while visiting a business.
  • The National Council on Aging (NCOA) is partnering with Lyft to provide access to reliable, affordable transportation to older adults who need a ride to the get to their COVID-19 vaccine
