Sedgwick County Health Department to resume administering Johnson & Johnson Vaccine

(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – The Sedgwick County Health Department (SCHD) will resume Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccination by appointment beginning Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Appointments will be available Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 6. People 18 and older can receive the J&J vaccine.

The Health Department quickly suspended J&J vaccinations on April 13, 2021, out of an abundance of caution and at the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

The CDC and FDA have confidence that this vaccine is safe and effective in preventing COVID-19. The FDA has determined that the available data show that the vaccine’s known and potential benefits outweighs its known and potential risks in individuals 18 years of age and older.

Schedule an appointment online at www.sedgwickcounty.org/covid-19/vaccine/schedule/. If a person with a severe medical risk has received medical advice to not go to a large vaccine clinic, such as the community vaccination site at 223 S. Main, please call SCHD at (316) 660-1029 or schedule an appointment online for the drive-thru clinic at 777 E. Waterman.
