County maintains high credit ratings

Sedgwick County Division of Finance confirmed that the County has maintained high credit ratings from Standard and Poor’s (S&P), Moody’s, and Fitch. Ratings are updated on an annual basis from these entities.

Standard and Poor’s             AAA
Moody’s                                Aaa
Fitch                                      AA+

The reports summarize reasons for the high rating such as a robust financial position with a strong economy and tax base, strong budget management during times of economic recovery, and the use of conservative budgets which utilize available revenue-raising tools and expenditure-cutting mechanisms as needed.

Sedgwick County is able to capitalize on these high ratings to secure “prime” interest rates when debt is issued which saves local tax payer dollars long term.
