Archived: Recommendations for County Residents Returning from Certain Countries

Archived

(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – Sedgwick County residents are at low risk for infection from the new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) recently identified from Wuhan, China. There are currently no confirmed cases or Persons Under Investigation (PUI) in Sedgwick County.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has confirmed several cases in the United States. Several cases have had history of travel from a country with ongoing COVID-19 transmission, but some have been linked to community spread. All United States cases have been identified through public health screening and monitoring systems.

The Sedgwick County Health Department (SCHD) is in regular contact with the State and is ready to implement protocols should Sedgwick County have a PUI. If you have recently returned from a country under CDC travel advisory (currently China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, and Japan), contact SCHD at 316-660-7300. The SCHD will verify travel history and check for symptoms. The traveler may be asked to remain at home until 14 days after they left the affected country.

For general questions about the novel coronavirus, please call United Way’s 2-1-1 line.
