Sedgwick County Parks Department Plans Controlled Burn Between March 20 & April 7

(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – Sedgwick County Parks Department is planning a controlled burn at Northeast Sedgwick County Park, 7390 N. 127^th St. E., to eliminate old thatch and trees taking over the grassland. The burn will take place on a day between March 20 and April 7, 2023, when these weather conditions are met:

• Southerly winds 10 - 15 miles per hour
• Air temperature 40 – 80 degrees
• Humidity 35 - 60%

Crews will put fire breaks around the perimeter of each burn site to ensure control of the flames.
