Clowie McLaughlin Pleads Guilty As Charged In 2025 DUI Crash That Killed Two

SEPTEMBER 25, 2026

WICHITA, KS  — Clowie McLaughlin, 81, of Augusta, pleaded no contest today to two counts of Involuntary Manslaughter, the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office announced.

McLaughlin entered the plea before Sedgwick County District Court Judge Sean Hatfield.  Ms. McLaughlin pled without a plea agreement from the Office of the District Attorney.  The charges were not reduced or amended.  After hearing a summary of the facts in the case provided by the Office of the District Attorney, the Court found defendant guilty as originally charged.  

The charges stem from an August 30, 2025, crash that killed a Wichita mother and daughter, Bell and A’Niah Bell.

Sentencing is scheduled for December 11, 2026, at 9:00 am before Judge Hatfield. 

At this time, the District Attorney’s Office will not be making additional statements as this case remains active.
