WICHITA, KS — On February 2, 2026, a Sedgwick County jury reached a verdict in the trial of 20-year-old Matthew Criscenzo, who was charged in connection with the May 2024 shooting death of Naomi Oglesby.
Following four days of testimony and several hours of deliberation, the jury found Criscenzo guilty of premeditated first-degree murder, felony murder, kidnapping, and aggravated battery.
The charges stemmed from an incident on May 25, 2024, in the 700 block of Laura Street in Wichita. Officers responded to reports of a shooting and discovered 20-year-old Naomi Oglesby, who was pregnant at the time, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. While Ms. Oglesby succumbed to her injuries, medical personnel were able to successfully deliver her infant.
"This case has been a tragedy for the Wichita community and, most importantly, for the family of Naomi Oglesby," said Chief Assistant District Attorney Jason Roach. "We thank the jury for their diligent service and careful consideration of the evidence presented throughout this trial."
