Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office Files Charges Against Former Law Enforcement Officer Following Traffic Accident

WICHITA, KS — The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office has filed four counts of aggravated battery against former Wichita Police Department officer Jayce Bennett, in connection with a crash that occurred on April 18, 2026.

The charges were filed following a review of evidence gathered during the investigation into the incident. A first appearance in this case is scheduled for July 7, 2026.

The defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

No additional information about the facts of this case will be released at this time as the matter is pending before the court.
