Two men charged in 2019 killing of Neighbor’s Bar and Grill owner Charles Giles

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 28, 2026

WICHITA, KS — As reported by the Wichita Police Department this afternoon, two men have been arrested and charged in the 2019 shooting death of Charles Giles, a Wichita business owner.

Benny Delgado, 36, of Wichita, and Jesus Deleon, 27, of Wichita, are each charged with Murder in the First Degree, Aggravated Robbery, and Criminal Discharge of a Firearm.   The results of the ongoing investigation were presented to the Office of the District Attorney last Friday.  The formal charging documents were filed with the court today, September 28, 2026, prior to the arrests.

Giles, who owned Neighbor’s Bar and Grill, died on July 19, 2019, after a shooting that occurred outside his Wichita home. Investigators with the Wichita Police Department continued to work the case in the years that followed.

"This arrest is the result of years of determined work by the investigators at the WPD," District Attorney Marc Bennett said.

Both men are expected to make their first court appearance on Tuesday, September 29 in Sedgwick County District Court.

In all cases, defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Because this is an active case, the District Attorney's Office will not comment further at this time.
