Juvenile Drug Diversion Guidelines
If you are applying for the Juvenile Diversion program due to a drug/alcohol offense, you are required to complete the following steps. Failure to comply may result in program denial.
STEP 1:
Go to Recovery Unlimited between 9:30 A.M. and 11:00 A.M or between 2:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. ON THE DATE OF YOUR COURT APPEARANCE for a urinalysis test. Recovery Unlimited is located at 3737 W. Douglas Ave., Wichita KS 67213. You must pay $20.00 for your UA and RECOVERY UNLIMITED (case, credit or money order only).
NOTE: A positive UA result alone will not make you ineligible for diversion.
STEP 2:
Return your completed Diversion application form to the Juvenile Diversion Office within 24 hours of your first Court date.
- Include a $25.00 non-refundable application
NOTE: The Application Fee must both be in the form of a Money order, cashier's check, or Attorney's trust account check, made Payable to the "District Attorney." NO CASH OR PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
STEP 3:
Notify the Juvenile Diversion Office (316-660-9777) of the location and date of your scheduled Drug and Alcohol Assessment, NO later then two (2) days from your first Court date. Your application request will be DENIED if you fail to report this information.
NOTE: A certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor must complete the assessment. Attached are some places you may obtain your assessment, however, this list is not all-inclusive and the decision is yours where to go.
STEP 4:
Sign a release of information to the District Attorney, Juvenile Diversion Office at your first visit with the Drug/Alcohol facility. You must have the results of Your Drug/Alcohol Assessment forwarded to the Juvenile Diversion Office, NO later than nine (9) days from your first Court date.
The Application WILL NOT be processed until the Application Fee is received.
BEFORE FILLING OUT THE APPLICATION
Please fill in form completely. Failure to provide the requested information could result in the denial of your application. Completed applications must be returned to the Diversion Office with the $25.00 non-refundable application fee in the form of a money order made payable to the District Attorney's Office.
NOTE: The application and fee must be returned to the diversion office within 24 hours of the first initial appearance.
