On May 29, 2021, a Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Deputy was arrested in Sedgwick County for misdemeanor Domestic Violence Disorderly Conduct.

The charge stems from an incident involving the deputy’s domestic partner.

The incident was fully investigated and presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for charging considerations. The District Attorney’s Office declined to pursue charges. Deputy Clayton Blackwood returned to restricted duty pending the outcome of the internal investigation, which will be handled by the Professional Standards Unit.

While on restricted duty, deputies under investigation for a serious policy violation do not have contact with the public.
