Fatality Accident 11.13.18

On November 13, 2018, at approximately 7:25 a.m., 911 dispatch was notified of an accident that occurred at approximately 16800 W. 21st Street North.   Sedgwick County Sheriff Deputies arrived and observed a gold 2013 GMC Yukon XL and a blue 1995 Chevrolet pick-up were the vehicles involved in the accident.

The driver of the pick-up, identified as Conner J. Richuber, a 17-year-old white man, was found unresponsive.  Resuscitation efforts began immediately but were not successful.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver of the Yukon was identified as James Speer, a 55-year-old white man.  He was in critical condition and was transported to St. Francis Hospital.

The preliminary investigation indicates the pick-up was travelling west on 21st Street North from 167th Street West.  The vehicle crossed over the center line and collided with the eastbound Yukon just west of the intersection.  Preliminarily, investigators believe icy road conditions and speed could be contributing factors.  The accident is still under investigation.
