Fatality Accident
On April 1st, 2020, Russeller W. Polk, a 43 year old white male from Wichita, Kansas was arrested and booked in the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility for 2nd Degree Murder.
On March 31st, 2020, at approximately 11:38 p.m., 911 dispatch was notified about a vehicle on fire, at approximately 7500 W. 101st Street North. Sedgwick County Sheriff Deputies arrived along with the Sedgwick County Fire Department and observed a Dodge truck on its side fully engulfed in flames. After the fire was extinguished, an unknown person was located in the pickup, and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation into the accident appears the truck was originally south bound on Ridge, entered the field on the west side of Ridge. The truck hit the ditch on 101st Street North lost control and rolled into the south ditch. The name of the passenger is not being released at this time pending positive identification and notification to family.
The name of the victim will not be released until we have positive identification and the family have been notified.
This is an active investigation. Once the investigation has been completed, all the facts and evidence will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office for charging.
