Fatality Crash 10/15/2023

Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an injury accident at 21^st North and 391^st West which turned fatal. The accident occurred on October 15^th, 2023 at approximately 7:04 pm. A gray 2012 Nissan Sentra driven by Varun Aithagoni 22 year old male foreign exchange student was traveling east on 21^st Street North and failed to yield at the stop sign. The Nissan was struck by a 1999 Chevy Tahoe traveling north on 391^st driven by Brandon Schroeder 36 year old male of Cheney.

Aithagoni and the front seat passenger Pratiksha Kunwar 22 year old female were transported to a local hospital where Kunwar was pronounced deceased at 8:10 pm. Aithagoni’s two rear seat passengers were released at the scene.

Schroeder and his two passengers a 2 year old male and 3 year old male were transported with minor injuries to a local hospital. All occupants were wearing seatbelts and there were no signs of intoxication at this time. The incident is still under investigation.
