Fatality Crash 11/15/2023

At approximately 2:28am Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a vehicle collision in the 6200 block of East Pawnee. Deputies arrived and located two vehicles in the ditch along with three individuals which had been ejected from a 2013 Silver Lexus GS350.

 Both vehicles were traveling westbound on Pawnee from Woodlawn when the Lexus GS350 left the roadway striking a utility pole and overturning ejecting all three occupants. The driver Juma Ahmad 20 year old male of Wichita was transported to a local hospital in serious condition and was later released. The front seat passenger Lian Awadi 19 year old female of Wichita was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and later died. The rear passenger Carol Chakra 19 year old female of Wichita was pronounced deceased on scene.

The second vehicle at the scene did not have any physical contact with the Lexus however the occupants knew the individuals involved in the collision.

It does not appear alcohol was a factor in the crash at this time. Speed is a likely factor however the incident is still under investigation.
