Fentanyl Arrest 10.21.22

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office was contacted about information related to Wichita Police Department case number 22C57056.  This case involves the suspected Fentanyl poisoning/overdose death of Corey Wontorski.  After receiving the information, investigations followed up and encountered Gage Smith, 18, white male.  Enough information was gathered to arrest and book Mr. Smith into the Sedgwick County Jail.

 

Mr. Smith was booked on four counts:

 

• Distribution of a Controlled Substance; Causing Death
• Possession of a Controlled Substance
• Use/Possession with intent to Use Drug Paraphernalia
• Violate Controlled Substance Laws

 

The investigation is still on going and will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office for charging.
