The 17-year-old female passenger, Stephanie Valentine of Norwich, died at the hospital on September 28, 2021.

Original Release

On September 27, 2021, at 2:40 P.M., deputies were dispatched to a vehicle injury accident at the intersection of 135rd Street West and MacArthur. During the collision investigation deputies learned an eastbound Kenworth semi driven by a 38-year-old female struck a southbound Chevy Cruze driven by a 43-year-old male. A 17-year-old female was a passenger in the Chevy Cruze.

The driver and passenger of the Chevy Cruze were transported by EMS to a local hospital. The driver had serious injuries and the passenger suffered critical injuries. The driver of the Kenworth was not injured.

At this time it appears the driver of the Chevy Cruze failed to stop at the posted stop sign for southbound traffic at the intersection or failed to yield to the crossing Kenworth. The circumstances of the collision remain under investigation.
