K15 Traffic Safety Campaign

Beginning on Friday, February 15^th, and continuing through Thursday, February 28^th, travelers can expect increased law enforcement presence on K15 highway in Sedgwick County.  The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office will be enforcing traffic laws as part of a safety campaign to reduce traffic accidents.  This activity is supported by a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT).  Law enforcement will be specifically looking for people speeding, following too close, failing to signal, and failing to obey a traffic control device (stop signs and traffic lights).  Law enforcement will also be looking for drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol. 

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office has already worked several accidents on K15 in 2019.  The purpose of this campaign is simple:  to drastically reduce the number of preventable deaths and injuries that occur when drivers and passengers are involved in traffic crashes.  We are asking for the public’s assistance with this campaign.  We are asking the public to slow down, wear their seatbelts, obey traffic control devices, and not operate a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.  Drivers can expect strict enforcement of all traffic laws.
