Organizational and Special Interest Tags
To obtain any of the below organization or special interest auto tags, go the Sedgwick County Tag Office or substation. You will pay any associated fee/gift/donation as indicated with the corresponding tag, state fees including any production charge that may apply to the tag as indicated, and all normal tag taxes and fees.
Future renewals may be completed by mail, online at https://KSWebTags.org, or in person at the tag office or substation.
4H
To purchase a 4-H license plate, the tag office will collect an annual tax-deductible gift of $50 to the Kansas 4-H Foundation. There will be a one-time production charge of $45.50, plus your annual tags and taxes*. All of these fees may be paid together in one transaction made payable to your tag office. Alpha Kappa Alpha
The Alpha Kappa Alpha plate has been authorized as a Distinctive Kansas Plate via 2021 HB-2166. However, the design, royalty fee and issue date are all yet to be determined.
Alzheimer's Association
The Alzheimer's Association plate has been authorized as a Distinctive Kansas Plate via 2022 HB 8-1,175. However, royalty fee, and issue date are all yet to be determined.
Agricultural
Make an annual $25 gift per tag to the Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom (collected at tag office or via certificate of donation from organization).
State fees include a one-time $45.50 production charge is not tax-deductible.

Amateur Radio Operator
To qualify you must be the vehicle owner or lessee and hold an unrevoked and unexpired official amateur radio station license issued by the Federal Communications Commission AND be a Kansas resident or a member of the military who is not a Kansas resident and is stationed at a Kansas military base or office.
Amateur Radio Operator plates can be issued to autos and trucks registered for 20,000 lbs. or less.
Steps to obtain the plate:
- Application must be made at the Sedgwick County Treasurer's Office or substation.
- Present your unrevoked, unexpired amateur radio license issued by the Federal Communication Commission.
Fee for the Amateur Radio Operator plate
- There is an additional $1.00 fee payable upon the initial application for the Amateur Radio Operator plate. All regular registration fees and property taxes will also be due at the time of application.

Autism Awareness
To purchase an Autism Awareness plate, the tag office will collect an annual tax-deductible gift of $40 tax-deductible annual fee per tag to Autism Hope for Families, INC. There will be a one-time production charge of $45.50, plus your annual tags and taxes*. All of these fees may be paid together in one transaction made payable to your tag office.
Boy Scouts of America
The Boy Scouts of America plate has been authorized as a Distinctive Kansas Plate via 2022 HB 8-1,162. However, royalty fee, and issue date are all yet to be determined.
Braden's Hope
Fill out a Distinctive License Plate authorization form. Each treasurer’s office or DMV should have the form, but there is also a form linked above. It may be easiest to print and fill-out ahead of time.
Important and helpful tips to note when filling out the authorization form:
- You DO NOT need an authorizing signature from Braden’s Hope. That portion of the form will be completed by the county treasurer. Prior authorization has been given by Braden’s Hope.
- At the bottom of the form under the FOUNDATION OR ASSOCIATION & NAME OF DISTINCTIVE LICENSE PLATE; Please write ‘Braden’s Hope for Childhood Cancer’.

In addition to your normal vehicle registration cost, you will be charged a $55.50 fee for the Braden’s Hope plate. $50 of this fee goes to Braden’s Hope, while the $5.50 represents a one-time reflectorized plate fee of $0.50 and a $5.00 county service fee.
This is an annual fee, which benefits Braden’s Hope. There may be additional county and state fees if this is a new title.
Breast Cancer Research
Make an annual $50 tax-deductible gift per tag to Midwest Cancer Alliance (collected at Tag Office or via certificate of donation from organization).

Choose Life
A Choose Life plate may be issued for an auto, motorcycle, or truck registered for 20,000 lbs. or less, and travel trailers which is titled in Kansas in the name of the applicant or leased by the same.
- Be a Kansas resident.
- Vehicle must be titled in Kansas in the name of the applicant or the leasing company from which the applicant is leasing the vehicle.
- Proof of valid insurance must be present at the time of application.
- There is a one-time $40.00 plate fee.
- Regular registration fees are due at the time of application or renewal. Property tax must be paid for the vehicle registered with a Choose Life plate.
Delta Sigma Theta
The Delta Sigma Theta plate has been authorized as a Distinctive Kansas Plate via 2021 HB-2166. However, the design, royalty fee, and issue date are all yet to be determined.
Donate Life
To order a Kansas Donate Life license plate, please visit your county treasurer’s office. Along with an annual donation of $40 to Midwest Transplant Network, there will be a one-time production charge of $45.50, plus your annual tags and taxes*. All of these fees may be paid together in one transaction made payable to your tag office. In Kansas, personalization of the specialty plate is not available at this time.
Down Syndrome Awareness
To order a Down Syndrome Awareness license plate, please visit your county treasurer’s office. Along with an annual fee of $30, there will be a one-time production charge of $45.50, plus your annual tags and taxes*. All of these fees may be paid together in one transaction made payable to your tag office. In Kansas, personalization of the specialty plate is not available at this time.
Ducks Unlimited
Make a $35 tax-deductible annual fee per tag to Ducks Unlimited (collected at Tag Office or via certificate of donation from organization). There will be a one-time production charge of $45.50, plus your annual tags and taxes*. All of these fees may be paid together in one transaction made payable to your tag office.

Eisenhower Foundation
The I LIKE IKE distinctive tag is an official license plate for the State of Kansas and can be obtained at any Kansas county treasurer/motor vehicle office. Plates are available anytime and there is no need to wait for your license plate renewal.
The cost of the tag is a $50 annual donation that comes to the nonprofit Eisenhower Foundation. There is a one-time $45 fee assessed by the State of Kansas when you initially select your I LIKE IKE license plate.
After purchasing your plate, you will receive a complimentary Friends of the Eisenhower Foundation membership as our way of saying thanks for "Driving Ike's Legacy."
Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
An EMS plate may be issued for an auto, motorcycle, or truck registered for 20,000 lbs. or less which is titled or leased in Kansas in the name of the EMS associate.
To qualify you must be employed in the Emergency Medical Services field, be a Kansas resident, or a member of the military who is not a Kansas resident and is stationed at a Kansas military base or office.
Steps to obtain the plate:
- Go to the Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services web page to obtain the Distinctive Plate License Plate Certification. The form page address is: http://ksbems.org/ems/forms/Tag_Authorization_Form.pdf. Follow the instructions on the form.
- Make application and submit the completed Distinctive Plate License Plate Certification to the Sedgwick County Tag Office or substation.
Fee for the Emergency Medical Services plate:
- A one-time $40 distinctive plate fee is due upon initial application and issuance, in addition to standard registration fees and property taxes.

Families of the Fallen
A Families of the Fallen plate may be issued for an auto, motorcycle, or truck registered for 20,000 lbs. or less which is titled or leased in Kansas in the name of the next of kin of the deceased military personnel.
You may make application for a Kansas Families of the Fallen plate if you are the recognized next of kin of deceased military personnel by the Department of Defense. You must be a Kansas resident or a member of the military who is not a Kansas resident and is stationed at a Kansas military base or office.
You must meet the conditions and/or requirements as listed on the Families of the Fallen License Plate Application, form TR-20.
Steps to obtain the plate:
- Make application and submit the completed and signed Families of the Fallen License Plate Application, form TR-20 to the Sedgwick County Tag Office or substation.

Firefighter
A Firefighter plate may be issued for an auto, motorcycle, or truck registered for 20,000 lbs. or less which is titled or leased in Kansas in the name of the firefighter.
To qualify you must be employed as a firefighter or be a volunteer firefighter and be a Kansas resident or a member of the military who is not a Kansas resident and is stationed at a Kansas military base or office.
Steps to obtain the plate:
- Contact the Fire Chief’s office for the fire department/district in which you are employed or volunteer and request a completed and signed Firefighter License Plate Certification form.
- Make application and submit the completed Firefighter License Plate Certification form to the Sedgwick County Tag Office or substation.
Fee for Firefighter plate:
- A one-time $40 fee distinctive plate fee is due upon initial application and issuance, in addition to standard registration fees and property taxes.

Gadsden Flag
Gold Star Mother
A Gold Star Mother plate may be issued for an auto, motorcycle, or truck registered for 20,000 lbs. or less which is titled in Kansas in the name of the applicant or leased by the same.
To qualify you must be the mother of a service member killed on active duty and be a Kansas resident or a member of the military who is not a Kansas resident and is stationed at a Kansas military base or office.
Your vehicle must be titled in Kansas in your name or the leasing company from which you are leasing the vehicle.
Steps to obtain the plate:
- Provide one of the following to the Sedgwick County Tag Office or substation at the time of registration:
- A DD1300-Report of Casualty or a Death Certificate
- A DD2064-Died in Theatre or
- A DD93 form which states the soldier died on active duty and will name the soldiers parents.
- Regular registration fees are due at the time of application or renewal. Property tax must be paid for the vehicle registered with a Gold Star Mother plate.

Helping Schools
The Helping Schools plate has been authorized as a Distinctive Kansas Plate via 2022 HB 8-1,153. However, the design, royalty fee, and issue date are all yet to be determined.
Horse Council
The $30 annual fee goes directly to the Kansas Horse Council to fulfill our mission of providing the Kansas equine industry with leadership and direction through education, promotion, and public policy advocacy.
When you spot one of these tags rolling down the highway, snap a picture and send it to us at director@kansashorsecouncil.com. Be sure to include the county or state where it was spotted.
Give Kansas horses the recognition they deserve by displaying these plates on your vehicles and trailers.

I'm Pet Friendly
Make an annual $50.00 donation per tag to the Kansas State University's College of Veterinary Medicine (collected at Tag Office or via certificate of donation from organization).

In God We Trust
The In God We Trust plate may be issued for an auto, motorcycle, or truck registered for 20,000 lbs. or less which is titled in Kansas in the name of the applicant or leased by the same.
No special conditions or requirements are necessary to apply for and obtain an In God We Trust plate.
Fee for In God We Trust plate:
- A one-time $40 fee distinctive plate fee is due upon initial application and issuance, in addition to standard registration fees and property taxes.

1) Print this form
2) Go to your local County Treasurer's Office - you will need the form and your current tag to exchange for a temporary tag. You will receive the new tag via mail in a couple of weeks.
3) Pay the distinctive plate fee along with a tax-deductible donation of $50 (in addition to normal tag and tax charges)
Masonic Lodge
The Kansas Freemason Plate is an official license plate. The proceeds help support our Grand Lodge library and Kansas Masonic charities. The Kansas Freemason Plate is available at your county treasurer’s office. The cost of the plate is $25 plus your standard fees and taxes. The additional $25 is forwarded to the Grand Lodge of Kansas for distribution in our non-profit funds.
Omega Psi Phi
The Omega Psi Phi plate has been authorized as a Distinctive Kansas Plate via 2022 HB 8-1,174. However, the design, royalty fee, and issue date are all yet to be determined.
Proud Educator
The Proud Educator plate has been authorized as a Distinctive Kansas Plate via 2021 HB-2166. However, the design, royalty fee, and issue date are all yet to be determined.
Rotary International
The Rotary International plate has been authorized as a Distinctive Kansas Plate via 2021 HB-2166. However, royalty fee, and issue date are all yet to be determined.
Special Olympics
Purchase a new Special Olympics Kansas license plate in person at the tag office. In addition to a $40 annual tax-deductible contribution to the Special Olympics Kansas and your normal state tag fees and vehicle taxes, a one-time special plate issuance fee of $45.50 to manufacture the plate is assessed. Shriner
Please contact your local Shrine Temple for information about obtaining a Kansas Shriner Plate.
Support the Arts
The Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission (CAIC) is offering the Kansas Arts License Plates to help raise funds to invest in the creative arts industries in Kansas. The plates will be available at your local DMV office starting the week of October 27, 2014.
The entire annual fee of $50 per license plate will go directly towards funding arts programs in Kansas. To see how your donation can affect the arts in Kansas, click here for a list of grants already awarded by the KCAIC in 2014-2015.
Wichita Flag
Purchase a new Wichita Flag license plate in person at the tag office. In addition to a $50 annual royalty fee, which will go directly to the Wichita Parks Foundation, and your normal state tag fees and vehicle taxes, a one-time special plate issuance fee of $45.50 to manufacture the plate is assessed.
