*Sedgwick County’s data reflects people who test positive with nasopharyngeal (NP) swab, oropharyngeal (throat) swab, or saliva molecular testing (confirmed COVID-19 cases). The KDHE dashboard differs because it also includes people who are IgM antibody test or antigen test positive if they are linked to a confirmed case or if they have COVID-19 symptoms.

**Beginning April 1, KDHE will only update their COVID-19 dashboard once a week on Fridays

 

No-Cost, COVID-19 Testing

  • The County sampling and testing site is located at 4115 E. Harry St., Wichita, KS 67218
  • No-cost, testing is regularly available for residents, regardless of symptoms, through the Health Department Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 12 to 5 p.m.
    • Thursday, April 28 is the last day of the Testing Site at 4115 E. Harry.
      • If you receive a voicemail or missed call from the Health Department, please call back in order to receive your results.
      • For the quickest response, please call (316) 660-1022 and listen for the prompt to leave a message for the results department. 
  • Residents wanting to self-report at-home COVID-19 tests can now do so at https://www.sedgwickcounty.org/covid-19/sampling-and-testing-information/covid-19-at-home-test-self-reporting-website/
    • SCHD will provide up-to-date quarantine and isolation guidance to people submitting the form who test positive or who test negative but were a close contact of someone with COVID-19.

Sedgwick County Health Department COVID-19 Vaccine Information

Hours and days of operation at the Community Vaccine Clinic at 223 S. Main are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday. Walk-in only. No appointment is needed. To decrease appointment time, bring proof of prior vaccination.

  • Saturday, April 30 is the last day of the Community Vaccine Clinic at 223 S. Main. For the remainder of 2022, SCHD will hold mobile vaccination clinics throughout Sedgwick County.

Sedgwick County provides Comirnaty (Pfizer) vaccine (for people 5 and older) or one-dose Johnson and Johnson (for people 18 and older) at walk-in clinics across the County or at 223 S. Main. Find a location near you at https://www.sedgwickcounty.org/covid-19/vaccine/clinic-locations/.

  • Comirnaty/Pfizer – fully approved COVID-19 vaccine for individuals 16 and older
  • Pfizer – under emergency use authorization (EUA) for individuals 5 to 15 years old and for the administration of a third dose in certain individuals with weakened immune systems
  • Johnson and Johnson (J&J) – under emergency use authorization for individuals 18 and older
    • CDC recommends Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and boosters over J&J. For a list of Moderna vaccine providers, visit vaccines.gov.
  • You are not considered fully vaccinated until two weeks after receiving your vaccination:
    • One shot for Johnson and Johnson vaccine
    • Second shot for Comirnaty/Pfizer vaccines
  • Everyone, especially minors, are encouraged to eat a meal or snack prior to arriving to prevent any nausea that may occur following vaccination.
  • If you are receiving a vaccine, the Sedgwick County Health Department recommends staying well hydrated before and after receiving your dose.
  • To find a vaccine clinic near you, visit https://www.vaccines.gov/search/ and enter your ZIP Code. You can also check with your doctor’s office or community health center.

SCHD provides the following COVID-19 vaccine booster doses:

  • For people 12 and older, a Pfizer booster 5 months or more after a second Pfizer dose.
  • For people 18 and older, a Pfizer booster 5 months or more after their second dose of Moderna vaccine or two months or more after receiving J&J vaccine.

SCHD provides second booster doses of Pfizer vaccine to the following groups:

  • People ages 50 and older who received their first booster dose four months ago.
  • People 18-49 years old who received a J&J primary dose, and who received a J&J booster dose four months ago.
  • People 12 and older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised, and who received their first booster dose four months ago.
