Kansas Man Sentenced to 673 months in Department of Corrections for Deadly Shooting

WICHITA, KS – In a Sedgwick County courtroom today, John A. Griffin III was sentenced to 673 months—more than 56 years—in the custody of the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC). Griffin will also be subject to a period of 36 months of post-release supervision. Additionally, as part of the judgment, Judge Tyler Roush ordered him to pay approximately $8,500 in restitution.
The sentencing handed down by Judge Roush concluded the legal proceedings in connection with the February 2024 fatal shooting of Christopher Harrell and Natisha Phillips at a Wichita area hotel.
Griffin, 22, had previously pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder and one count of involuntary manslaughter for the deaths of Harrell and Phillips in addition to two counts of aggravated battery for additional individuals.
The investigation into the double homicide was led by the Wichita Police Department.
