Wichita woman charged with murder in the first degree

[WICHITA, KANSAS] – The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office today announced that it has formally filed one count of Murder in the First Degree against Angelynn Mock in connection with the fatal stabbing of her mother, Anita Avers.
The charge stems from an incident that occurred on Friday, October 31, 2025, at a private residence in Wichita. Wichita Police Department (WPD) officers responded to the scene and found the victim, Ms. Avers, deceased from multiple stab wounds. Ms. Mock was taken into custody shortly thereafter.
District Attorney Bennett confirmed the charge was filed after reviewing the investigation conducted by the Wichita Police Department’s Homicide Section.
Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation and impending legal proceedings, no further details will be released at this time. All criminal defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
