The division of health provides protection from health problems and hazards by investigating infectious diseases and responding to public health threats, including:
- Recreational Water Illnesses (swimming pool safety)
- Emerging and Drug-resistant Infections
- Food-borne Outbreaks
- Chronic Diseases
- Terrorist Attacks and Biological Warfare
- Communicable Diseases Such as Shigella and the Seasonal and Pandemic Flu
No matter what the event, you can take steps now to prepare yourself, your family and your co-workers for any type of emergency.
Sedgwick County has identified multiple points of dispensing (PODs) designed to give preventive medication to persons who are currently healthy but may have been “exposed” to a substance or disease. PODs are sometimes identified as neighborhood distribution centers (NDC).
