Women, Infants and Children (WIC)

WIC is a no-cost nutrition and health support program for pregnant, breastfeeding, and new parents, and children under 5. It provides healthy foods, education, and referrals to community resources.

Services available through WIC

Sedgwick County WIC staff, including registered dietitians and nurses, meet with participants at no cost to provide:

Breastfeeding Class

CLASSES IN ENGLISH

  • No cost; open to the public
  • 2nd (second) Wednesday of each month from 12:00pm (noon) to 1:00pm 
  • Held online through Microsoft Teams.
  • Call 316-660-7444 to sign up or click here on the day of the class to join.

CLASSES IN SPANISH

  • No cost; open to the public
  • 3rd (third) Wednesday of each month from 12:00pm (noon) to 1:00pm 
  • Held online through Microsoft Teams.

Applying for WIC
  • Call the WIC office at 316-660-7444 to schedule an appointment

  • Bring identification, proof of income, and health information for yourself and your children

  • Staff will review eligibility and guide you through enrollment

Using and Managing WIC Benefits

eWIC Card  

WIC benefits are provided on an electronic benefit card (eWIC).

  • Use the eWIC card to buy approved WIC foods for each family member enrolled in WIC

  • Choose which WIC foods to buy at each store visit

  • Buy WIC foods and non-WIC items in the same transaction at participating stores

WICShopper App

The WICShopper App helps manage WIC benefits while shopping.

  • View approved WIC foods and current benefits

  • Scan item barcodes in the store to see if a food is WIC approved

Who is eligible for WIC benefits?

To be eligible for WIC in Kansas:

  • Women must meet income guidelines and be pregnant, breastfeeding, or have recently delivered a baby.

  • Children must be younger than 5 years.

  • Participants must have a health check with WIC staff to see if extra nutrition or health support is needed.
