Property Activity Alert Frequently Asked Questions.

What is the purpose of the Property Activity Alert?
The Property Activity Alert is a way for property owners or other interested parties to receive alert messages by email when a document is recorded by the Sedgwick County Register of Deeds and indexed with a specific name. The service matches specific party name data on recorded documents with requests made by subscribers.

How do I sign up for Property Activity Alert?
Click on Property Activity Alert link.

Is there a fee for the Property Activity Alert?
No. This is a free service provided by the Sedgwick County Register of Deeds Office

How many names can I monitor?
You may register as many names as you wish. There is no limit.

What information do I need to gather before signing up for this service?
The only information you need to provide is your first and last name along with your email address.

My name is John Smith Junior (Jr.), how would I enter that into the subscription?
It is imperative that you DO NOT enter the suffix of your name (Jr., Sr., etc.) while entering your name into the subscription. Only enter your first name information into the first name field and your last name information into the last name field. The same logic applies with middle names; DO NOT enter a middle name (or middle initial) into the first or last name fields.

My first name is often spelled many ways; how should I enter it?
It is highly recommended that you enter only the first letter of your first name. For example, with a name such as Steve, Stephen, or Steven, you may wish to enter the letter “S” in the first name field. Or you may wish to enter the first few letters of your first name to limit the number of first name matches. For example, if the letters “St” are entered, a name match may result for the names Steven, Stan, Stacy, Sterling, etc.

My last name is spelled differently on occasion; how should I enter it?
To illustrate, let’s use the name “Van Cleave” as our example. This name may at times be spelled with a space in it (“Van Cleave”) and at other times with no space (“VanCleave”). For cases like this, it is highly recommended that you make two separate subscription entries with both name variations. For the Property Activity Alert system to work as intended, and for notification alerts to be sent, the last name spelling, or business name spelling of the subscription name must match exactly.

If I have a common name, what will distinguish my alerts from another person’s?
There is nothing that will distinguish one name from another as far as receiving alerts.  However, if you view the image on our website, you will be able to determine if it is your property or someone else’s by the names and the legal description.  The document number and the link to our website should be included in the email. If the image is unavailable on our website, please call our office at 316-660-9400 with any questions.

I own a business, how should I enter my business name?
Business names should be entered into the Last Name field. For best results, if the business name begins with “The” do not enter it.

What if my email address changes or I want to cancel my subscription?
To change or cancel your Property Activity Alert subscription, please call (316) 660-9400.

Does this service alert me of documents being recorded in other counties?
No, this service only alerts subscribers of documents being recorded in Sedgwick County official records.

What do I do if the document recorded is fraudulent?
If you find a document recorded with your name is fraudulent, file a Consumer Complaint Form with the Consumer Protection Division of the District Attorney’s office.

This form may be emailed to or mail to the address on the form.
